Modern pressed flower: Studio weekend

April 17th, 18th & 19th, 2026
New York City

A THREE-DAY, IN-PERSON PRESSED FLOWER STUDIO WEEKEND IN NEW YORK CITY

After two years abroad, I’m returning home to host my first in-person pressed flower retreat in New York City.

We’ll begin Friday with an evening of pressed flower card making and wine, spend Saturday exploring the NYC Flower District and filling your own flower press with a wide variety of blooms while learning exactly how to press them so they retain their vibrancy and color, and close the weekend on Sunday in a focused studio environment designed to help you complete, or begin, a larger piece with guidance and support.

This weekend offers meaningful, in-person time learning directly from me - refining your technique, strengthening your confidence in composition, and gaining clarity on how to press even more difficult varieties so they don’t turn brown. Together, we’ll move beyond simply creating pressed flowers into committing to finished work.

Throughout the weekend, I’ll guide you through my methods in real time and support you in refining your own compositions - helping you clarify your artistic voice and confidently glue your larger piece so you leave with something that truly feels like yours.

Before we come together, you’ll have a one-on-one meeting with Tricia to prepare you for the weekend. You’ll leave with handmade cards, a brand-new flower press filled with rare blooms, a clear plan for pressing success, and a finished artwork, along with the rare experience of uninterrupted time to deepen your craft and settle into the kind of focused flow where meaningful work is made..

Pricing - $1,200

Scroll below to step into the full rhythm of the weekend and discover all that’s included.

We begin the weekend with a festive, phone-free creative gathering in the studio.

You’ll create handmade cards and small collages using hundreds of pressed flowers from my personal collection, including rare native blooms sourced from California, England, and Australia. This evening is about getting your hands back into the material, cutting, arranging, gluing, experimenting, without pressure or perfection.

It’s a chance to work slowly, to be tactile, to make a little mess, and to settle into a room of people who love flowers as much as you do.

Refreshments and wine will be served.

All supplies are provided, including handmade paper, cards, envelopes, glue, brushes, and hundreds of beautiful pressed flowers from around the world.

Friday, April 17th 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Welcome + Art night

We begin with a guided visit to the famous NYC Flower District, where I’ll teach you how to identify what truly presses well, what to choose, what to avoid, and how a flower’s shape, succulence, and color affect your results.

After exploring hundreds of blooms together, I’ll guide us in selecting and purchasing a wide range of exceptional varieties. Back in the studio, each participant will fill their own brand-new flower press while I demonstrate my pressing methods step by step, including how to handle thicker and more difficult flowers so they retain their natural color without browning and maintain a beautiful shape.

This is hands-on instruction in the exact way I approach pressing flowers to create beautiful, vibrant ingredients for my own artwork.

You’ll leave with a press filled to the brim and a clear plan for pressing success in the weeks ahead.

All fresh flowers, materials, handmade press, Ubers back to the studio and breakfast snacks with coffee and tea are provided.

Saturday, April 18th 8:30am - 12:00 noon

Flowers in the City

Sunday, April 19th 1:00 - 5:00pm

Sunday is devoted to finishing.

Bring the piece you’ve been hesitating on—the one you haven’t glued yet, or the larger composition you’re unsure how to resolve.

Gluing is commitment. Sometimes what’s missing is clarity and an outside eye.

You’re encouraged to bring your own pressed flowers and materials. I’ll create a focused studio environment where you can refine your work and bring a piece to completion with guidance and feedback.

You’ll leave with a finished artwork—ready to frame—and the confidence that comes from completing something you’ve been holding back from.

Afternoon drinks and snacks provided. If you do not have your own pressed flowers and supplies, we will meet before to discuss and I can provide those for you.

COMMITMENT + COMPLETION

Sunday, April 19th 7:00pm

The Collector’s Circle

To close the weekend, we’ll gather for The Collector’s Circle — an intimate, hosted dinner at a beautiful New York City restaurant reserved just for our group.

After three days of focused making and exploration, this is a thoughtful way to celebrate the work we’ve created, reflect on your experience, and enjoy time together in a flower-centered setting.

As part of the Studio Weekend experience, each participant will receive:

  • A hosted prix-fixe dinner with wine

  • A beautifully-wrapped pressed flower scarf from Domain of the Flowerings

  • A tube of 15 unique sheets of my signature gift wrap

This celebratory evening is included for all retreat participants.

What to Bring + Helpful Notes

This weekend is designed to feel focused, supported, and well cared for.

One-on-One Meeting
Upon signing up, we will schedule a one on one zoom meet to discuss what you hope to get out of this weekend and what your Sunday project will be.

Flower Press (Included)
A brand-new flower press will be waiting for you in the studio, empty and ready to fill. You do not need to travel with one unless you prefer to bring your own. If you choose to bring your own press, I recommend one similar in size to mine so you can fit the greatest variety of blooms. If you already own a press, and would like to bring yours, please email me and we will be happy to reduce the price of the retreat. But please know that having multiple presses is a must for a serious flower presser. :)

Saturday Flower District Experience
Saturday is fully supported. My assistants will be with us throughout the morning to help carry purchases in our Hulken bag, take your tea or coffee orders and grab them for you to-go, and make the experience feel seamless so you can browse and learn hands-free. I will guide us through the Flower District, visiting my favorite shops, select and purchase all the blooms, and arrange Ubers to bring us back to the studio in small groups. You will not need to navigate logistics. Your brand new press with all supplies will be waiting for you when you return.

For Sunday’s Larger Piece
If you have an unfinished pressed flower project you’d like support with, bring it. You are strongly encouraged to bring your own pressed flowers, papers, and materials you are already working with. If you do not have flowers or supplies for this portion, we will discuss a plan during our one-on-one Zoom meeting.

Sunday is designed to help you refine and complete work that reflects your own aesthetic and practice.

Suggested working size:
• 12″ × 18″ if you are flying (easy to carry on)
• 18″ × 24″ if you are driving

After registration, you and I will schedule a call to discuss your goals for Sunday. Together, we’ll map out what to bring so you feel prepared and confident. Email me at hello@modernpressedflower.com.

  • Tricia is a wonderful host and teacher! We had a beautiful evening with a group of bright eyed, passionate flower enthusiasts. We were all eager to learn Tricia’s techniques, while in an absolutely beautiful setting surrounded by Tricia’s amazing art. Thanks for a wonderful experience, I will never forget it!

  • I loved the class! I am a former floral designer and I've been looking for a new medium for my obsession with flowers. This was perfect! I made my own presses and started pressing flowers after I finished the class. Thanks so much! I'm excited about my new hobby!

  • What an absolute DELIGHT this course was! Tricia is a lovely teacher, warm and wise and humble and funny. She blends encouragement with instruction and models how to work through perfectionism and mistakes. Throughout it all is a genuine love for her work and a desire to share it with others. She honors the beauty of flowers and approaches her craft with such respect- even reverence. She immediately elevated my craft and reignited my passion for it. She’s just genuinely inspirational.
